Rheem pool heater repair & service
Why Rheem owners call HeatNest
Rheem pool heaters work hard in a short Ontario season, and the way they're started up in spring and shut down in fall has a huge effect on how long they last. Corrosion, scale and freeze damage are the three big killers, and all three are preventable.
We service Rheem heaters across the province, so we know the local water conditions, the common installation mistakes and the maintenance schedule that keeps these units firing reliably season after season.

Signs your Rheem pool heater needs service
- The Rheem heater won't fire, or fires and then shuts off before reaching temperature
- Water heats slowly or never reaches the set temperature
- Error codes on the display, or the unit cycles on and off repeatedly
- Water leaking around the heater, or rust stains on the cabinet
- The heater worked last season but won't start after winter
Maintenance for Rheem equipment
A Rheem pool heater should be started up and inspected every spring and properly winterized every fall. Spring service includes checking the ignition, cleaning the burner tray, testing flow and pressure switches and verifying the heat exchanger is clean. Fall winterizing, draining water from the heat exchanger, is what protects the unit from freeze damage over an Ontario winter.
Repair or replace?
On a Rheem pool heater, ignition parts, switches and controls are almost always worth replacing. The decision point is the heat exchanger: if it's leaking on an older unit, replacement often makes more sense than repair. We'll assess the overall condition, cabinet, burners, controls and exchanger, and give you an honest recommendation either way.
