Stûv America gas fireplace repair & service
Why Stûv America owners call HeatNest
Stûv America fireplaces are built to last, but every gas appliance has parts that wear with use. Ignition components, flame sensors, valves and blowers all have a working life, and Ontario's long heating season means these units run hard from October through April.
Because we work on Stûv America units every week, we arrive knowing the common failure points, the parts most likely to be needed and the model specific quirks, from ignition sequences to venting layouts, that a generalist might miss.
What we fix on Stûv America units
Pilot and ignition
Standing pilot, intermittent pilot and electronic ignition repairs on Stûv America units.
Thermocouples and thermopiles
Testing millivolt output and replacing weak flame sensing parts.
Valves and controls
Gas valve, control module, receiver and remote troubleshooting.
Cleaning and maintenance visits
Glass, burner, media and vent cleaning with a full safety check.
Signs your Stûv America gas fireplace needs service
- The pilot won't stay lit, or the Stûv America unit takes several tries to ignite
- A weak, lazy or lifting flame instead of a steady, full flame pattern
- White film, soot or haze building up on the inside of the glass
- The fireplace shuts itself off after a few minutes of running
- A gas smell when the unit starts, or the remote and wall switch stop responding
Maintenance for Stûv America equipment
An annual service visit keeps a Stûv America fireplace running cleanly and safely. We clean the glass and burner, check gas pressure, test the safety shutoff, inspect the venting and verify the flame pattern matches the manufacturer's specification. Most visits take under an hour and catch small problems, a weakening thermopile, a dusty pilot hood, before they leave you without heat on a cold night.
Repair or replace?
Most Stûv America fireplace problems are worth repairing, ignition parts, valves and blowers are a fraction of the cost of a new unit. Replacement starts to make sense when the firebox or venting is deteriorating, when parts are no longer available, or when you want a significant efficiency or style upgrade. We'll show you the repair cost and the replacement options side by side so you can decide with real numbers.
